WHAT A GREAT EVENT! OUR DEEPEST THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO MADE THIS HAPPEN WITHOUT A HITCH! WATCH THE TV COVERAGE.

We just wanted to check in with all our volunteers and make sure that YOU too had a good time. Every one of you is entitled to a free HVNC/Liberal Cup coffee mug. Let us know if you didn't get yours.

We know there is room for improvement, especially around the finish line and the timing. You can help us improve by telling us:
1. what was your job? (some of you were floaters and did multiple tasks of which I was not aware)
2. what could be improved?
3. were the correct number of volunteers on this job?
4. general observations about the event.

Again thanks! and we'll let you know just as soon as we have next year's date so you can mark your calendar.

SMBC biathlon + Junior Worlds

Last weekend was a busy one.
Congratulations to everyone who raced at Black Mt on Saturday. It was a beautiful day to be skiing and the race course was in great shape.

Sunday SMBC and Nature Valley Nature Center hosted a second annual biathlon for over 130 skiers.
Thanks to Ted and Jackson Hall, Jeff and Keaton McEvoy, Peter Barbara from SMBC for volunteering
And a special thanks to MWSC, Seth Hubbard and Raleigh Gosling for coming and supporting the event.

See the link below for more info. Even though SMBC was not mentioned we were really there. J

I also want to mention over the weekend Sean Dougherty from Center Conway, NH not only won a silver medal on Saturday but won a gold medal in the pursuit race on Sunday.
Congratulations Sean!!!  Good luck with the rest of the races this week.

Remember, Biathlon Nationals are in Fort Kent this year and it would be great if a group went up to race and/or spectate. Race dates are March 8 – 10.
A few club members will be going to the race. Let me know if you have any questions and if you are interested in going.

Gift Wrapping and next practice

Dec 18 from 3pm - 9pm SMBC will be gift wrapping at LL Bean.
We need a couple more volunteers from 3 to 5. Though if you want to help at any time please stop by LL Bean between 3 and 9pm. We will be right inside the main entrance by the big Bean boot.

The next club practice will be Sunday January 6 from 10am to 2pm at the Univ. of Maine Conservation camp in Bryant Pond.  I will need at least a couple parent volunteers to help make this practice happen. Let me know if you can help.

Gift Wrapping at LL Bean

LL Bean has given SMBC an opportunity to earn some money by gift wrapping at the Retail store in Freeport.  Many local organizations apply to gift wrap each year but only a few are selected.

This year SMBC was selected to gift wrap from 3 - 9 p.m. on Dec 18. We will need a several volunteers to help gift wrap. It is preferable that all volunteers sign-up for 2 or 3 or more hour shifts.

Please contact me if you are able to help.
