Lobster Roll

Last Saturday, club members Sam Humphries (Greely junior), Molly Susla (Colby freshman) and Nate Niles (Waynflete senior from MCN), participated in the Lobster Roll, a 15 k college roller-ski race on North Haven Island. Joel, Connor, Tiki, and Tara traveled out to watch. It was a great day-chilly but a lot of fun. Nate finished in 20th, and Sam in 22nd for the men, and Molly in 9th for women. Great job guys! Thank you Andy Shepard, for organizing such a fantastic event! Find video I took on Saturday at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwUoHF8atvQ.

Don't forget that air rifle practices are at the Grout's on Princess Point the first and third Tuesdays of the month, and .22 practices for those who have rifles are the second and fourth Tuesday at Toddy Brook Farm. If you are planning to attend a .22 practice let Joel know because there is a limit of 4 shooters.

Also if you are planning on signing up for the Bryant Pond weekend, Nov. 8-9, contact Lisa Adams- eadams1@gwi.net to see if there is still space.

Hope everyone is having a good fall! Time to put away the cleats and get our the roller-skis =]

Thank you every one who came or spread the word about coming to O'Natural's last Tuesday night! There was a good turn out and everyone's presence was much appreciated! And don't forget to write down the Eyes for the Pies roller-ski race in your calendar, the date has changed to Sunday November 1. Also, SMBC shirts are now for sale so contact Joel for more information, and the website is coming along nicely and will be published soon!

See you on November 1!

L.L Bean Kids Day

On a Saturday in early September SMBC was lucky enough to have a table inside L.L. Bean on Kids Day. It was packed with families, and we had a table set up with brochures, a slideshow and information, along with two laser rifles and targets which the kids were absolutely obsessed with. Lots of kids, teenagers and interested adults meandered by the table and tried shooting, almost all getting back in line. It was great to get the word out about biathlon! Thank you Joel, Connor, Molly, Tiki, Drew, Tom, and Tara for helping at the table that weekend. Who knows, the next gold medal Olympian could be a kid from L.L. Bean...
